Concept and universe
Kaizen is an automation and puzzle game by the Zachtronics team, in Japan in the 1980s. Design and optimize production channels to create emblematic products such as calculators, camcorders and arcade terminals.
History and context
We are in 1986 and you are David Sugimoto, born and raised in South Bend, in Indiana. Thanks to a family friend, you go to Japan for your very first job at Matsuzawa Manufacturing. Japan’s economy is booming and they are looking for young talented and motivated professionals like you. Initially promised a position in the international sales team, you arrive at your new job and it is not a modern office. It is one of the old Matsuzawa factories, on the outskirts of Tokyo. We quickly put you to work to design automated production lines in the fascinating universe of industrial automation.
